Wednesday saw the arrest of Bryan Reyna, a former Real Mallorca player, for the alleged possession of both weapons and drugs, with Peruvian police taking him into custody after capture.
Reyna had been playing his domestic football in Peru with Academia Deportiva Cantolao after his contract with Real Mallorca was rescinded in January 2021.
It is understood that a misdemeanour and breach of club rules was what forced the Spanish club's hands, leaving him a free agent.
Libero Media in Peru reported on Wednesday that Reyna had been pulled over by police in his car alongside a teammate, and then weapons and drugs were found inside the vehicle.
"A black Browning brand firearm, model CZ-83, Caliber 9 with Made in Czech Republic inscriptions, without a serial number, was found, apparently discarded, equipped with a cartridge of 12 ammunition shells," the report stated after the police released their version of events.
