Glover is most known for his music, using the name Childish Gambino, as well as for his role in Community as lovable jock Troy Barnes.
Having dabbled in film and television before, it was only a matter of time before he made the jump to having more creative control.
Most notably, 2009 and 2013, where he was the writer and executive producer on Mystery Team and Clapping for the Wrong Reasons respectively.
Fast forward to 2016, and Glover is once again claiming those titles with new creation Atlanta.
When speaking about Atlantis at the Television Critics Association’s summer press tour, Glover said: “What was important to me was that this show was personal and had a specific take.
“The thesis with the show was to kind of show people how it felt to be black.”
Atlanta sees Earn, played by Glover, a loner who has returned home to Atlanta.
When his cousin, Alfred Miles, played by Brian Tyree Henry, becomes the next big thing in the local rap scene, Earn then finds himself caught up in it as well.
The show will premiere on FX on September 6th.
