The Life of Dr. Doug Henson
Dr. Henson was born and raised in West Virginia. He attended public schools in his hometown and graduated from Hurricane High in 1984. He then pursued his undergraduate degree at Marshall University, where he was a member of the class of 1989. Following this, he went on to attend the Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine, where he earned his medical degree in 1993. He completed his residency in General Surgery at Marshall University in 1998.

After completing his residency, Dr. Henson spent the next 25 years treating thousands of patients and teaching hundreds of medical students and residents. He was preceded in death by his father, Dr. Sam Henson, and his brothers Andy Henson and Dr. Scott Henson of Hurricane, WV. He is survived by his beautiful and resilient mother Joan Henson, son Conner Henson with Mary Kate and his granddaughter Madeline, daughter Caitlin Henson, nephew Seth Henson, niece Brogan Henson and great nieces Haley Henson and Parker Henson, sister-in-law Kim Henson, cousin Stefanie Henson, and his devoted fiancé, Stephanie L. Pratt, and her children Rachel, Allie, Natalie, and Eli Pratt. He is also survived by a close group of lifelong friends Dave Oney, Herman Brunetti, and Tony Russell.
Dr. Henson's legacy will live on in the countless lives he touched throughout his career. His dedication to his patients and his love for his family and friends will not be forgotten. Rest in peace, Dr. Doug Henson.
