Gotham City may pride itself on being Melbourne’s only eight-star brothel but a recent hard rubbish collection left little to be desired.
Residents in South Melbourne reported stacks of stained mattresses of all shapes and sizes splayed outside the establishment this week.
Writing to theHerald Sun’s Deadline column, a local joked that they were full of stories.
“That’s what I call hard rubbish. If those mattresses could talk, you’d be there all day listening,” they said.
Billing itself as a “multimillion-dollar complex,” Gotham City offers a bar, lounge and accommodation facilities, with rates that start at $350 an hour.
The infamous 24-hour brothel was embroiled in a scandal involving its owner Frank Puleo, who was hit with drug charges. While he pleaded not guilty after appearing at the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court in March, a police raid from June 2019 recovered quantities of cocaine, speed, MDMA and Kamagra oral jelly.
Police also alleged they also found $65,290 hidden in a secret cavity and concealed wall safe at Gotham City.

In August this year, former Gotham City employer Cindy De-Waij was also jailed for 12 months after she pleaded guilty to a prolonged and sophisticated identity theft racket which resulted in multiple fraud and theft offences.
It’s believed De-Waij used doctored photos, fake documents and stolen credit cards to extort money from victims which she spent on luxe accommodation, drugs and designer clothes.
An investigation by police uncovered hundreds of passports, driver’s licences, Medicare cards, fake Victoria Police stamps, foreign bank statements and tax statements.
