Will Smith and Jada Pinkett had one of the most picture-perfect marriages in Hollywood up until August Alsina decided to spill the beans about their entanglement. However, this has not stained the couple as much as originally thought — it actually made them a bit more relatable.
Like with any high profile couple, there were rumors that Will and Jada had an open relationship. Especially because of their interviews over the last few years where they referred to each other as ‘life partners’ and not husband or wife.
August’s interview was taken as the truth because there is a paper trail of him hanging with the whole Smith family. Up until then, all the rumors were just purely speculation.

So instead of releasing a vague written statement or denying what was revealed, the two were open and honest about their ‘perfect’ union.
A source told US Weekly that the RTT episode was necessary.
‘They are a very vulnerable and open pair, and they felt this was the best move for their family. This wouldn’t even be a story if they weren’t famous — it’s a normal situation — break up, get back together.’
This comes after Jada’s admission on the special episode: ‘It was a relationship. I was in a lot of pain, I was very broken. In the process of that relationship, I definitely realized that you can’t find happiness outside of yourself. Luckily enough, you and I were also going through a process in a much different matter. I would definitely say we did everything that we could to get away from each other, only to realize that that wasn’t possible.’
