Conor McGregor is living large right now after his recent TKO victory at Madison Square Garden in UFC 205. Truth be told, he's on the fast track to becoming an MMA legend.
In fact, he's looking to pick a fight with a true legend from a different sport – Floyd Mayweather. McGregor says that, for the modest fee of $100 million, he'll take on Mayweather in the ring under boxing rules, because, as the MMA star puts it, "he's afraid of a real fight."
Mayweather hasn't been silent on the issue, either. He recently gave the following statement about the comparisons between himself and McGregor:
"I'm a legend. A living legend. To the sport of boxing I gave years and years of hard work, it was blood, sweat and tears, had a tremendous team, had a tremendous run. I think if Conor McGregor need to go out there and do what he do, but never compare Conor McGregor to me. It's a total disrespect."
He went on to call McGregor an ant, and himself an elephant, and "elephant is so large he don't even see ants."
McGregor, however, isn't alone in thinking he's got a shot against the undefeated boxer. UFC President Dana White had this to say about the two fighters: "Floyd's never even come close to doing to other fighters what Conor does."
It was just days ago that the Irishman took to the DJ booth at 1 OAK in New York and publicly called out the famed boxer. Referencing Mayweather's ant comments, McGregor invites Mayweather to "say that to my face."
"Floyd's not ready for this," he said.
And, oh, how badly the fighting world would like to know if that's true…
