Tyson Fury defended his WBC heavyweight belt on Saturday, defeating Dillian Whyte by sixth-round KO in front of 94,000 fans at Wembley Stadium in London. Fury landed a brutal right uppercut and followed with a shove that sent Whyte immediately to the mat before the referee stepped in to end it early.

Fury improved to 31-0-1 and handed Whyte (28-3), his fellow Brit, his first loss since a KO defeat to Alexander Povetkin in August 2020.

Fury's massive reach and height advantage proved to be the difference on Saturday. Every time Whyte tried to close the distance, he was met with a strong jab or ended up in a clinch situation with the much heavier Fury. The smaller shots throughout the bout took a toll on Whyte -- who suffered a cut above his eye on an accidental headbutt in the fourth round -- until the devastating final shot.

"I think this is it," Fury said after the win.

Fury has stated in the lead-up to the bout he would retire after the fight. If he does not follow through on those plans, he could set his sights on the winner of Oleksandr Usyk — the WBA, IBF, WBO and IBO heavyweight champion — and former titleholder Anthony Joshua in June to become undisputed in the division.

Another option could be a crossover fight with UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou. Fury brought Ngannou into the ring after the bout and said they will work to make it happen in a hybrid boxing fight with smaller gloves.

"This is going to be one very special fight," Fury said, "unlike anything ever before seen in our sport."
