Tom Lord-Alge (born 17 January 1963) is an American music engineer and mixer. He began his career in The Hit Factory in New York. Then, TLA was the resident mixer in what used to be known as “South Beach Studios” located on the ground floor of the Marlin Hotel. Lord-Alge Mix the album Live’s in 2014, The Turn in Pennsylvania.
Tom’s pivotal moment as a mixing engineer came in 1993, after mixing Crash Test Dummies’ God Shuffled His Feet. The track featured their hit song “Mmm Mmm Mmm Mmm”. In the following year, he remixed the multi-platinum single Throwing Copper from Live and has sold over 8 million copies throughout the United States. The popularity of these albums was his first step in Lord-Alge’s profession as an engineer for mix. He was a mix engineer at South Beach Studios in Miami before it closed, and is represented via Global Positioning Services Management in Santa Monica.
Lord-Alge was awarded Two Grammy Awards for his work on Steve Winwood’s Back in the High Life (1986) and Roll With It (1988)–both winning in the category of Best Engineered Recording – Non-Classical category.
