With her dazzling voice in Beauty and the Beast, you have to have wondered what is Emma Watson’s favorite song?
Emma Watson doesn’t have an all time favorite song. Like anyone, Watson’s musical tastes have changed over the years. Some artists that she has consistently said she is a fan of over the years are Joni Mitchell and Patti Smith. On top of all of that, Emma was in a music video for the band One Night Only in 2010.
You can read more below about Emma Watson’s musical taste and her cameo in the One Night Only music video.
Watson’s Musical Profile with Teen Vogue
In 2009, Teen Vogue caught up with Emma Watson for their cover for the August issue. While in conversation with the magazine, Watson provided them with a list of her favorite tunes to listen to while in four different settings.
The first setting they discussed was on-set. Watson’s top three songs to listen to while on-set in ‘09 were Secret Smile by Semisonic, this is not the bands most recognizable song, which would be Closing Time. Building a Mystery by Canadian singer Sarah McLachlan made the number two spot. And, A Case of You by another Canadian, Joni Mitchell, took spot number three. Others on that list were Chopin’s Nocturne C-Sharp Minor and Justin Nozuka’s After Tonight.
The second setting was music that Emma Watson listens to on the road. The top three on that list were Broad Daylight by Gabriel Rios, Angels by Wax Poetic featuring Norah Jones, and Cuts Like a Knife by Bryan Adams. Songs by Madonna, Jet, and Elvis Presley also graced this list.
Watson’s third setting was music that she listens to in her room. The first song listed was Sexual Healing by British band Hot Chip; a cover of the Marvin Gaye song of the same name. Butterfly by Crazy Town, and All Night Long (All Night) by Lionel Ritchie took spots two and three on that list.
Finally, the last place that Teen Vogue asked Emma about was what she listens to while out on the town. She replied with these top three songs: Body 2 Body by Samantha Mumba, Handle Me by Robyn, and Scrubs by TLC. Of course Whitney Houston, Prince, and Lady Gaga all graced this list as well.
Watson’s Other Music References
As for other artists, Watson has said she is a big Patti Smith fan on more than one occasion. In a 2011 interview with Vogue, she said “I want to live like Patti. I want to write like Patti.”
In 2013, Watson did an interview with Marie Claire where she was asked what her go-to screensaver would be, she responded “A photo of Patti Smith.” Again referencing the iconic punk rocker.
Watson’s response to the question of what her go-to playlist would be, she had this to say: “The Lumineers album and the Pitch Perfect soundtrack, which put me in a good mood. I just downloaded Superstition by Stevie Wonder, Your Love Gets Sweeter by Finley Quaye, Me and Jane Doe by Charlotte Gainsbourg, and Skyfall by Adele.” With time, musical tastes change.
Cameo in a Music Video
In 2010, Emma Watson attended the Glastonbury Festival with the lead singer of the band One Night Only, George Craig. This was after the two met while on a Burberry photoshoot. They became friends and the band asked Watson if she would be in their music video for their newly released song Say You Don’t Want It.
Watson obliged as she was already a big fan of the band. After all, what music lover wouldn’t jump at the opportunity to be in the music video of a band that they like?
